Body contouring can include one or more procedures to remove excess skin and fat from various areas of the body. Body Lift
Body lift is a surgical procedure in which the entire outer thigh and buttock complex are lifted as one unit. This is a more modern and advanced technique where the incisions are hidden within the bikini lines, as opposed to the more visible area around the buttock crease. Body lift can be performed as an isolated procedure, but is more commonly performed with either abdominoplasty or an inner thigh lift.
Inner Thigh Lift
Sagging skin around the thigh area is usually caused by considerable weight loss. An inner thigh lift removes loose skin and excess fat from the inner thighs.
Arm Lift
Upper arm skin can become loose and flabby due to age, gravity or weight loss. An arm lift removes loose skin and excess fat from the upper arm. In turn, this reduces the overall circumference of the upper arm.
This relatively young patient was bothered by the saggy appearance of her buttocks and the deepening of the crease. She underwent a lower body lift, which resulted in a more youthful and rounded appearance of her buttocks. The scar can be hidden within the bikini lines. In this patient, the scar is approximately six months old. It can take a few years for the scar to achieve its final minimally visible appearance.
This is a side view of the same patient. It is quite evident that the saggy buttocks with the deepening crease have been lifted, thereby eliminating the crease and creating a more youthful contour.
This patient is at an ideal body weight for her height. Overall, she is dissatisfied with the moderate drooping of her buttocks. She is willing to except the surgical scar in exchange for a more youthful buttock contour. Note the aging appearance of the crease between the buttock and the back of the thigh. Also note the more flowing and youthful contour in the same area after the surgery.
After losing a significant amount of weight, this patient became bothered by the folds and loose skin around his waist and buttocks. After undergoing the body lift procedure, the looseness of his waist and buttocks has been corrected. The contour from his waist to his hips and buttocks is more youthful and uniform.
This patient was bothered by the loose skin and excess fat around her waist, back, and abdomen. She underwent a body lift and abdominoplasty. She achieved a marked improvement in her body contour and a significant rejuvenating effect.
This patient was greatly bothered by the loose skin and excess fat in her upper arms. She had an arm lift that resulted in the significant thinning and improved contour of her arms.
This is the front view of the same patient. Note the tremendous improvement in the contour of her arm. It has been approximately six months since surgery, and the scar is moderately red. Within the next few years, the scar will typically fade to a barely perceptible line.
This patient was bothered by excess fat and the slight looseness of her arms. She underwent a modified arm lift with liposuction. The scar is hidden in the armpit area, and will fade quite nicely over the next few months.
